18.2.1 PROTECTING CANADIAN WATERS
WHEREAS Ontario and Canadian waters are being sold to foreign companies etc. for profit, and
WHEREAS water is our most precious life source and is needed now and more so in the future as the world will put more pressure on Canadian waters as they lose their own supply, and
WHEREAS companies (Nestles, for example) are pumping vast amounts of water for small compensation, and
WHEREAS aquifers are threatened to be exhausted in the next ten years, and
WHEREAS the pollution from the plastic bottles containing the water is an environmental threat as companies manufacture millions of bottles a day,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Pensioners Federation call upon our Provincial and Federal Governments to recognize our right to a healthy environment and to recognize that access to water is a fundamental and inalienable right for all Canadians and to discontinue the selling of our water to foreign interests.
