WHEREAS concession bargaining has allowed employers to reduce the level of benefits provided to retirees long after they have retired, and
WHEREAS employers on their own have reduced benefits to retired staff, and
WHEREAS benefits are considered to be ‘deferred wages’ (i.e.: the property of the worker), and
WHEREAS retirees generally have no say or rights to consultation in the reduction of their benefits package.
That the NPF call upon the federal government to introduce legislation which will consider retired workers’ benefits packages to be vested similar to the vesting of pension benefits.
