ONTARIO SOCIETY OF SENIOR CITIZENS ORGANIZATION PRESENTS THE 2023 DAN BENEDICT AWARD FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE: LEADERSHIP TO THE NATIONAL PENSIONERS FEDERATION
Valerie Smith-Waines, Chair of the Board of Directors nominated the NPF to receive the OSSCO prestigious Dan Benedict Award 2022-2023. Board of Director’s Communications & Membership Committee reviewed all of the applications for several categories to select one applicant in each; Social Justice Leadership / Innovation / Community Mobilization / and Partnerships and Collaborations.
“On behalf of the Committee, we are pleased to recognize National Pensioner’s Federation (NPF) for Leadership. We appreciate the information which you provided to Valerie at the NPF bi-annual Conference. That information was shared with the Committee. She also spoke on the work undertaken by M.P. Marilyn Gladu with the recent passing of the pension-reform private member’s Bill C-228.

The award was presented at the Nov 16th OSSCO Senior’s Conference at the Julius Event Centre, Toronto.
This distinguished award celebrates the contributions of an individual or organization that benefits the senior’s community. The Award honors the legacy of former board member Dan Benedict, who was known for social justice and his fight against ageism. With this award, OSSCO recognizes individuals and/or organizations that are working to find solutions to make aging easier for everyone©.
