NIA Report: Social engagement is declining among Canadian older adults

New results from the INV’s 2025 Survey on Aging in Canada show fewer elderly people regularly participate in social, recreational or group activities.
Main obstacles to social engagement:
• Cost (36%)
• State of health (32%)
• Lack of energy (31%)
• Not having company (30%)
• Being too busy (29%)
These findings highlight the need for affordable, accessible, and inclusive activities that help older adults stay socially active.
