National Pensioners Federation and Connected Canadians Launch Cyber Safety First Aid Training Through New Horizons for Seniors Program
The National Pensioners Federation (NPF) and Connected Canadians are pleased to announce a Cyber Safety First Aid training initiative supported through the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
This program is designed to help seniors, affiliate leaders, and volunteers better understand online risks, recognize scams and fraud, and build stronger cyber safety awareness in an increasingly digital world.
Participants will receive access to Connected Canadians’ Cyber Safety First Aid program, which includes:
● 10 self-paced online learning modules
● Flexible anytime completion
● Scam and fraud prevention education
● Practical cyber safety skills
● Online safety awareness training
Participation is limited to 15 participants..
Registration opens June 23 2026.
“Seniors deserve to feel safe and confident online,” said Trish McAuliffe, National Pensioners Federation President. “This partnership with Connected Canadians provides practical, easy-to-understand training that helps older adults recognize scams, protect themselves online, and navigate the digital world with greater confidence from the comfort of home.”
“Cyber threats are constantly evolving, and accessible education is one of the most effective ways to help older adults stay protected,” said Connected Canadians. “We are proud to support seniors through practical, self-paced learning that builds confidence and awareness in everyday online activity.”

National Pensioners Federation and Connected Canadians Launch New Horizons for Seniors Digital Literacy Initiative
The National Pensioners Federation (NPF) is proud to announce a new partnership with Connected Canadians, supported through the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
This initiative will deliver free Technology Mentor Training for seniors, affiliate leaders, and volunteers across Canada, helping older adults build confidence using technology and strengthen digital inclusion in their communities.
Live virtual sessions for Technology Mentor Training will be held over two days:
Dates: September 14–15, 2026
Time: 1:00 PM–3:00 PM ET each day
This training will support participants and provide certification in:
● Building everyday digital confidence
● Learning practical technology skills
● Supporting seniors in their communities
● Accessing online services safely
● Strengthening local mentoring capacity
Connected Canadians is a national charitable organization dedicated to improving digital inclusion for older adults through accessible technology training and support.
“Many seniors want to feel more confident using technology but may not know where to start,” said Trish McAuliffe, National Pensioners Federation President. “Through our partnership with Connected Canadians, supported by the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, seniors can learn step-by-step from the comfort of home with trusted support. These programs help older adults stay connected with family and friends, access important services, and participate more confidently in today’s digital world.”
