Half of complex dental claims denied: Health Canada responds to concerns over CDCP

The National Pensioners Federation (NPF) stands with Canadian seniors and advocates across the country who are raising serious concerns about the federal Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). While the intent of the program is welcome, recent reporting has highlighted troubling statistics: nearly half of complex dental care claims have been denied, and delays in approvals are causing concern among both patients and providers.

NPF supports continued pressure on Health Canada to ensure that the CDCP works as promised — with faster processing times, clearer communication, and fair access to needed care for all eligible Canadians, especially seniors.

We urge our members and partners to stay informed and to continue pushing for a dental care program that works for those who need it most.
